COMMUNAL CAPITALISM

EUROPEAN CITIZENS INITIATIVE
One-million signatures to formally introduce Communal Capitalism legislation
to the European Commission.

Traditional capitalism destroys nature and widens inequality.
Can we retain the merits of capitalism, while removing its flaws?
Can we redesign capitalism to serve humanity better?

1. MAKE THE PEOPLE OWNERS OF THE SKY

The sky is a natural inheritage belonging to all citizens equally. That's why a citizen-owned Sky Fund should receive the property rights for the sky and charge companies who exploit the sky by emitting carbon.

2. CHARGE CORPORATIONS FOR EXPLOITATION OF THE SKY

Corporations who want to pollute will need to purchase emission permits. This will result in higher prices for high-carbon products and services. This will encourage consumers to buy clean alternatives and encourage companies to develop them.

Because the sky belongs to all citizens commonly, each citizen receives one non-transferable share in the fund. The revenues of the Sky Fund will be annually distributed to each individual equally.

An economically legitimate form of Universal Property Income (UPI) derived from communal property rights is created. Calculations prove that each European could receive €3000-5000 per year from the Sky Fund.

4. SHARE COMMUNAL CAPITALISM WORLDWIDE

By charging import tariffs on high carbon products that are imported to the EU, countries outside of the EU will need to choose: continue to pay the EU carbon tariffs, or implement communal capitalism in their own country.

Now all large economies have tremendous incentive to implement communal capitalism themselves.

This way we are able to prevent global warming to rise above 1.5 degrees.
